The Research Approval team makes determinations of institutional requirements for research authorization and liaises with multiple stakeholders in support of research approval processes. Reporting to the Manager, Research Approval and Contracts, The Research Approval Officer undertakes all elements of Lawson’s research approval process ensuring efficiency, adherence to the compliance framework, and client service. The Research Approval Officer reviews research studies to assign approval requirements, liaises with stakeholders, acts as a system administrator of the Lawson research approval software tools, implements system improvements and develops documentation, and ensures user training tools and support.

Successful completion of a Degree in Clinical Research or Biomedical Sciences. Equivalent experience and
education will be considered.
• 3 years recent, related experience
• ACRP or SoCRA Certification preferred
• Demonstrated knowledge of business processes, organizational and time management skills with exceptional
attention to detail and accuracy
• Knowledge of clinical research in a hospital environment
• Computer software experience including databases, Microsoft Office, and e-filing
• Experience in data entry and/or report creation
• Experience with database management preferred
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, including ability to support approval process software
users
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team
• Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
• Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the principles of patient and family centred care
• Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety
• Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
