New Clinical Research and Chronic Disease Centre to tackle chronic diseases and improve patient care
LONDON, ON - More than 50 per cent of Canadians live with a chronic disease, and Southwestern Ontario has some of the highest rates in the province. On March 1, Lawson Health Research Institute and St. Joseph’s Health Care Foundation are marking the official opening of the Clinical Research and Chronic Disease Centre (CRCDC) at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
The CRCDC, a first of its kind in the region, is a new research specific space that’s bringing together researchers in a variety of fields that focus on the management of chronic diseases, such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and breast and prostate cancer research enabled by the London Tumour Biobank.
The event marks years of hard work from the dedication of clinical and research staff to the generosity of donors, who made the 6,000 sq. ft. space a reality through their giving.
