Research Overview

One in five youth has a mental health disorder. My current research focuses on improving access to effective treatments for mental health disorders in children and youth, e-mental health applications and strategies to reduce wait times for children's mental health services.

Other areas of research include anxiety and depression in children and youth and their treatment, as well as the factors that increase the effectiveness and accessibility of Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy.

Biography

Dr. Julie Eichstedt received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Concordia University in 2002. She is a Clinical Psychologist in the Child & Adolescent Mental Health Program at Children’s Hospital, London Health Sciences Centre, with adjunct faculty/lecturer appointments in the Department of Psychology and the Department of Psychiatry, Schulich School of Medicine, Western University.

She is also a founding member of the Canadian Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies and a CACBT-ACTCC Certified Cognitive Behaviour Therapist. Dr. Eichstedt has published and presented on mood and anxiety disorders in children and youth, as well as on cognitive-behavioural therapy with this population.
