Lawson Health Research Institute
Lawson is incorporating Canada 150 into many of our 2017 events as we honour Canada's rich legacy in the health sciences.
- London Health Research Day 2017 - London Health Research Day (LHRD) is a partnership between Lawson Health Research Institute (Lawson) and the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University. It is the region’s premier research showcase event, highlighting outstanding research by students, trainees, clinical fellows and postdoctoral scholars from across the city of London. This year's London Health Research Day honoured Canada 150 and celebrated students and trainees as the future of health research in Canada.
- Lawson Impact Awards - The Lawson Impact Awards is an annual event that honours research making a difference and acknowledges the unique accomplishments of our scientists, staff, trainees and partners. The 2017 Lawson Impact Awards, held on April 19, honoured Canada's 150th year as a nation. The event incorporated many elements of Canada 150, including a discussion of Lawson's history, a tribute to past Canadian scientists and thoughts on the next 150 years in health research and innovation in Canada.
- Café Scientifique - Hosted by Lawson, the Café Scientifique is a free community event that provides an informal opportunity to get involved with science. Through an open-forum discussion in a casual setting, we address health-related issues of popular interest to the general public. This year's two Café Scientifique events form a two-part series focusing on the future vision for health care in our country and the legacy our research will leave. The first event, "An image of the future: Innovations in imaging research", took place on May 23, 2017. The second is expected to take place in the fall.
