London Health Research Day
Driving Innovation Through Collaboration
London Health Research Day (LHRD) is a partnership between Lawson Health Research Institute (Lawson) and the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University. It is the region’s premier research showcase event, highlighting outstanding research by students, trainees, clinical fellows and postdoctoral scholars from across the city of London.
As the largest research day of its kind in Ontario, more than 700 people attend this event each year. Together, participants represent health science labs from across the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Robarts Research Institute, Lawson Health Research Institute, London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Health Care London. The day includes poster and platform presentations, informative workshops, The Lucille & Norton Wolf Health Research Lecture Series, and a wine and cheese networking session for trainees and industry partners.
Eligible participants are invited to submit abstracts for competition. The poster and platform competitions are grouped into broad categories for evaluation and judging is administered by groups of experts drawn from each institution. Visitors are encouraged to attend to find out more about the exciting and ground-breaking research being conducted across the city of London.

Event History
Research has always been an integral part of both the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry and Lawson Health Research Institute. Each year, both institutions held individual research days to showcase the outstanding work of their students, trainees, clinical fellows, residents and postdoctoral scholars: the Margaret Moffat poster competition at Schulich Medicine & Dentistry and the Lawson Health Research Day held at Lawson.
In 2012, Schulich Medicine & Dentistry and Lawson decided to bring their two research showcases together, resulting in more opportunities for collaboration, presentation, and recognition. On Tuesday, March 19, 2012, the inaugural “London Health Research Day” was presented.
