Why attend London Health Research Day?
On March 28, London Health Research Day (LHRD) will showcase hundreds of poster and platform presentations from top graduate trainees and postdoctoral scholars from Lawson Health Research Institute and the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry.
Guest registration is required for the lunchtime keynote speaker at 11:45 a.m. and the networking and awards reception at 5:30 p.m.
Here are five reasons to attend London Health Research Day:
1. Learn about outstanding work in health research
At LHRD, you will have the opportunity to review the groundbreaking work that is being done across London. There are poster and platform presentations featuring research abstracts spanning all areas of health, including cancer, aging, rehabilitation, imaging, children’s health, biomedical devices, surgical innovation, infection and immunity, mental health and more.
2. Network with people in London
LHRD brings together researchers, faculty members and staff from the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry and Lawson Health Research Institute. This year, Western’s Faculty of Health Sciences will also be participating with 20 poster presentations. This is a great opportunity to engage and network with like-minded individuals who are passionate about health research.
3. Celebrate milestones and accomplishments
2017 marks Canada’s 150th year as a nation, and with so many great historical moments to honour, there is a lot to celebrate! Scientific accomplishments in the health sector are an important part of the country’s heritage and our competitive advantage. LHRD showcases trainees who are working to solidify their own legacies. The 2017 LHRD event will include special elements to highlight Canadian scientists who have made a difference on the world stage.
4. Win great prizes
All guests and participants will receive a LHRD poster passport card. Throughout the day you can visit different posters and engage with presenters to fill up your passport for a chance to win a prize. Draws for both the morning and afternoon sessions will take place at the networking and awards reception – attend to find out if you’re a winner!
5. Support your friends
Many of us know and work with those who will be giving presentations at LHRD. Support them as they show off their research and gain experience for national and international conferences.
